Field Trips are an important part of the educational experience at Nayatt School. Because they enrich and extend the learning, the PTO sponsors them as part of their mission. There are four grade levels and the Multi-Age Team. About $11,000.00 has been budgeted by the Nayatt PTO to sponsor field trips. Sometimes, we ask for donations to off-set the additional costs incurred by the PTO, this includes buses. This can be very expensive.
Recently, the Kindergarten classes went to Save the Bay, this was a wonderful experience for our students. Please know that the bulk of this trip was funded by the Nayatt PTO so that our students can have these experiences that extend the learning and curriculum. We appreciate all of your support and the generosity of the Nayatt School PTO.
I hope you enjoyed the beautiful weekend. Happy Monday! It is a busy week. We are in the final week of our Food Drive to benefit TAP IN, our local food bank, there is a community event at BHS on Tuesday night and we have a Halloween School Store. After School Enrichment Programs are full. These begin next week. Please be sure to check email for Arts Alive Practice Updates. Thank you.
The Nayatt School Improvement Team will begin meeting this week and will meet each month to review and respond to the Student Success Pillar of the BPS Strategic Plan. The team consists of three parents, a community member, three teachers and the school principal. We have three goals in the area of student success, two are focused on gap closure in reading and one is focused on student engagement and relates to our self-reflection work with the implementation of See Saw and our work around Project Based Learning.
Nayatt has a team of educators on our Deeper Learning Team being coached by the Highlander Institute in Deeper Learning Strategies. Ms. Milman, Mrs. Cunningham, Mrs. Baxter, Mrs. Blanchette, Ms. Muccino, Mrs. Bertoncini, and Ms. Whitehead are the representatives for Nayatt on this team. Our work will be directed towards identifying Project Based Learning opportunities in our curriculum and ways to revise and improve implementation through the use of Deeper Learning Strategies.
Our goals will be to incorporate resources funded through PTO Grants such as our new greenhouse and the hydroponics system in Ms. Cunningham's class. Today, I shared this work with our PTO Chairs of Gardens and Grounds, Ivy Miliken and Kira Reynolds. They are ready to help and support however they can. Watch for more information for opportunities to get involved and to support this learning at Nayatt School.
Have a great week!
