It is hard to believe that we are already past the 100th day of school and heading towards the spring. There are so many great events being offered at our school and by our PTO in the upcoming weeks. Please save the dates on your calendars. We hope to see you and to continue our great work together.
The Barrington Public Schools Homework Policy does not mandate homework at the lower elementary level. We do encourage reading with your child regularly and participating in Ten Marks for students in grades 1-3.
Our third graders will be taking the RICAS Assessment this spring. All assessments are taken on the chromebooks. Participating in Ten Marks regularly allows your child to learn to manipulate the technology tools they will use during the assessments.
We do not teach to the RICAS Assessment, but we do like to prepare our children for the experience of the assessment. Being participants in the assessment for the first time can be stressful to young students and we do not want the use of technology to add to this stress. We appreciate any support at home with the implementation of Ten Marks or opportunities for the children to work on the typing programs set up by Mrs. Bertoncini that our children can access on her library page. Like all things at our school, our students experience the most success when parents and teachers collaborate. Thanks for all you do to help your child to be successful at school.
