Celebrations of Teaching and Learning:
In response to Nayatt School’s Social Emotional Goal for 2017-2018, Mrs. Heidi Brousseau, a special educator and social/emotional specialist at Nayatt School has begun lessons in each classroom at Nayatt around the 5 Point Scale and Mind Up Curriculum from the Goldie Hawn Foundation. Students are learning how to assess their emotional state and a self-regulation strategy to use in response to a heightened emotional state. Mrs. Brousseau will be at the November PTO Meeting to share the 5 Point Scale with families and other strategies for managing student anxiety and worries.
The Nayatt School Social/Emotional Goal is based on the RI Social/Emotional Competencies. Several parents are on the Nayatt School Improvement Team and will be assisting us with progress monitoring our goal. They are Celeste Bremer, Sarah Andrus, and Melissa Coen.
Nayatt SEL Goal: By June 2018, 100% of the students will be able to identify their emotional state on the 5 Point Scale and 90% will be able to identify a conventional self-regulation strategy in response to their emotional state, and 50% will be able to implement a strategy as measured by a survey given at the beginning, middle, and end of the year.
