During this school year and throughout the next 5 years of the Barrington Public School Strategic Plan, Nayatt will be focused on creating more project based learning opportunities to take student learning deeper. We have a pilot team of teachers, seven staff members participating in Deeper Learning Training with the Highlander Institute. We will explore ways to include the 21st Century Skills of collaboration, critical thinking, creativity and communication in your child’s learning experience.
The new third grade Expeditionary Learning Curriculum for ELA engages students in rich text and critical thinking around science and social studies content. Their first Unit of Study has focuses on the theme of Overcoming Challenges. Students are building habit of character and working to become effective learning. They examine themes from a global level and shift to a personal level where they are reflecting, setting goals, and they will assess their progress over time.
