We hope you enjoyed the Mother’s Day weekend. Due to the recent measles outbreaks in other states, a letter regarding the measles that has been distributed by the Barrington Public School nurses for families who may have opted out of having their child vaccinated. The letter was attached to the weekly Aspen email. Thank you for your time and attention.
This week our third graders will take the last round of RICAS State Testing. This week, on Thursday and Friday, they will participate in math. The sessions are computer based and take about 90 minutes. Our math instruction at Nayatt is strong. Last school year, 69% of our third graders were proficient in math. This was a solid performance for our first time with the RICAS Assessment. It was one of the highest in the state. The RICAS assessment gives us feedback on how to improve our teaching practice and instructional strategies. For example, this spring, Ms. Muccino is leading a professional book study with the third grade teachers, Mrs. Blanchette, Mrs. Codega, Ms. Ferreira, and Mrs. Spaight on Number Talks with Fractions. The PTO paid for the professional books to do this book study. We are thankful for their on-going support of our academic improvements. Nayatt continues to grow and improve because of the partnership between the school and home.
Have a great week!
