As we come to the end of the school year, the students in grades K-3 will be demonstrate their progress in a variety of subject areas, but in particular, in their informational writing. This has been one of our School Improvement Goals for the 2017-2018 School Year. The students were given a prompt in the Fall and Winter and they will respond to the prompt in the Spring by Friday, June 8th. We are so excited to see their growth and progress in writing. They will demonstrate what they know about a topic of interest and their informational writing skills.
The teachers at Nayatt are strong instructors in the area of writing. They have taught so many valuable skills across the school year and in many classrooms the students have tracked their growth and progress and set goals for areas of improvement. Mrs. Bertoncini has supported this learning through research in the library. Writing involves output and a very different part of the brain. It is a complex task that requires the ability to organize thoughts, to introduce a topic, to demonstrate command of grammar and punctuation, to develop main ideas and supporting details and to conclude the writing.
This is an opportunity to celebrate our children and the high expectations they have worked to achieve. It is also an opportunity for teachers and staff to reflect on our strengths and needs and to continually refine our practice so that we can support the success of all at Nayatt.
