Celebrations of Teaching and Learning:
During our recent Feinstein Food Drive to support the production of Thanksgiving Baskets by TAP IN (Touch Another Person in Need), the second and third grade used their math skills to count and organize the food items.
Ms. Muccino, the Enrichment Specialist, had the enrichment students organize themselves into teams and to determine a strategy to best organize and count the cans. The students were excited and enthusiastic about their task. They used a variety of efficient and effective math strategies. They worked only with clipboards, paper, and pencils. It took them about forty minutes to organize and count, 1,086 food itmes.
We cannot thank the community enough for their tremendous support of this effort to support TAP IN, our local food bank based out of the Barrington Public Library. Mr. Feinstein will donate $1.00 for each food item developed up to $1,000.00.
