Empowering All Students to Excel

Ms. Milman and Mrs. Bertoncini have decorated our cases in the foyer that students can visit when they pick up breakfast, visit the office or the nurse, and go outside.

It’s Time to Register for Kindergarten-Week of February 8th

Children register at their neighborhood schools; there is a dedicated email address for each school which may be found on the Kindergarten Registration Website.

  • If you have a child who will be 5 years old as of September 1, 2021?

  • If you have a friend, neighbor or relative who lives in Barrington with a child who will be 5 years old as of September 1, 2021?

Due to the Pandemic, all registrations are virtual:

Steps in the Process:

  • Complete the registration packet

  • provide proof of residency, unless you currently have a child in the Barrington Public Schools.

  • provide copies of your child’s birth certificate or passport and immunization records.

  • All of this information should be emailed to nayattkreg@barringtonschools.org

  • Once a completed registration packet is received, you will receive more information from the school.

  • If you are unable to email the kindergarten documents, please contact my assistant, Mrs. Patota  so we can arrange for alternative plans.

Thanks so much for your time and attention.  Visit the Nayatt K Folder for our welcome letter, PTO information, and BPS Volunteer Information.

Update from the BPS DEI Committee:

  • The Diversity, Equity, and Inclusivity committee, the Culturally Relevant Curriculum Teams, and curriculum workgroups have focused on the integration and celebration of Black History throughout the year.

  • With the support of our DEI coach and curriculum leaders, we continue to update our curriculum. We believe that Black History should be an integral part of the curriculum, and not viewed as a one-time event in the school year.

  • We recognize that Black History month is core to our ongoing curriculum and teaching work and another way to uplift the history and voices of underrepresented groups in our country. https://www.learningforjustice.org/magazine/why-we-need-black-history-month

What is Happening at Nayatt during Black History Month:

  • In the Kindergarten classes, they are using early reader texts to learn about George Washington Carver, Martin Luther King, Jr and Barack Obama.

  • Some are sharing the text Dream Big, Little One written by Vashti Harrison which features 18 black women in American history.

  • In Grade 1 classes, they are studying Dr. Martin Luther King.

Nayatt School Winter Screening Continues:

  • February 8th-12th, K-3 Fastbridge Screening in ELA and Math

  • To assess student progress and plan for instruction, interventions, and enrichment.

  • We screen students 3X per year to get an indication of their pre-requisite skills.

  • The children do not need to study or be nervous.

  • The assessments are computer adapted and adjusts to your child’s responses.

  • We review the data in grade level teams and make plans for instructional needs.

  • Mrs. Blanchette, the reading specialist, and Ms. Muccino, the math specialist will be screening our remote learner, both DL and ADL.

  • Classroom teachers will provide you with screening times for your distance learner to work with the specialists.

  • Students may not have their reading and math groups this week while they are helping with the screening process.
