🌞🌝BPS STUDENTS WATCH SOLAR ECLIPSE: It was a beautiful day in Barrington for a solar eclipse! 🌘 Yesterday afternoon, students and staff across our district gathered outside wearing special protective glasses to watch the moon cover the sun.

🚣‍♂️DEEPER LEARNING IN THE BMS STEAM STUDIO: Deeper learning takes place daily inside classrooms across our district. Recently, Barrington Middle School students in STEAM Studio class used 3D design to create an assistive rowing device for a schoolmate! 📒💡BHS STUDENTS PREPARE FOR AP EXAMS: It's almost AP season at Barrington High School and our students are hard at work preparing for their upcoming exams! Yesterday, more than 100 BHS students took Advanced Placement practice tests in biology, chemistry, physics, and environmental science. 🧠

🧬🧫BPS STUDENTS SHINE AT RI SCIENCE FAIR: Earlier this month, students from Barrington High School and Barrington Middle School presented at the Rhode Island Science and Engineering Fair (RISEF). Many of our students were recognized at the RISEF Awards Ceremony! BHS junior, Isabelle, received Best in Fair First Grant for her project, "Jumping Genes: A potential molecular target for Alzheimer's disease intervention". Isabelle will be one of two students representing Rhode Island at the International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF) in Los Angeles, California, next month! BHS students Siddharth, Sara, and Katherine also received Best in Fair First Grant awards (top ten projects at the fair) for their projects; Julia, Iris, Rahul, Emma, and Athena received First Grant awards; and Malak, Alexandra, Jason, and Onson received Third Grant awards. In the Junior Division, BMS students Cameron, Calvin, and Afraz received Second Grant awards and Tobey received a Third Grant award. Congratulations to all of our young scientists! 🦠🔬

♟BHS CHESS TEAM WINS LEAGUE TITLE: Did you know Barrington High School has a chess club that offers a competitive and casual outlet for chess players of all levels to challenge themselves and hone their skills? This season, BHS chess players placed first in the 2024 Ocean State Scholastic High School Chess League! Congratulations to all members of the chess club and special thanks to club advisor, Mr. Marshall!

🏅🔵🟡 BHS FBLA EARNS TOP HONORS AT STATE AWARDS CEREMONY: Last week, the Rhode Island Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) held their 46th Annual State Leadership Conference Awards Ceremony. Barrington High School FBLA members earned top 5 honors in 43 different events! These achievements reflect our students' dedication, work ethic, and professionalism. Congratulations to all members of BHS FBLA and thank you to Mr. West and Ms. Hennessy for your leadership and guidance!

🎻🎤BHS STUDENTS PERFORM IN ALL-STATE MUSIC ENSEMBLES: Nearly two dozen Barrington High School students performed in the 2024 Rhode Island Music Education Association (RIMEA) All-State Music Ensembles at The Vets last weekend! Congratulations to our student singers and musicians! 🎼🎺

💜🌈🦒SOWAMS COMMUNITY SERVICE PROJECT IS "IZSPIRED": Sowams School third graders in Mrs. Adamson's and Mrs. Lally's classroom recently completed a community service project benefitting the Izzy Family Room at Hasbro Children's Hospital. In the spirit of the Izzy Foundation, a local nonprofit that funds and "IZspires" creative projects, spaces, and programs for families whose children have cancer, Sowams students made pillows and wrote notes of encouragement to be shared with children at Hasbro. 🐶HMS STUDENT COUNCIL MAKES A DIFFERENCE: The Hampden Meadows School Student Council hosted a March collection drive to benefit the Hotel for Homeless Dogs Humane Society in Cumberland. Yesterday, Student Council members visited the Hotel for Homeless Dogs to deliver 365 items (including dog food, collars, leashes, bowls, beds, blankets, toys, and cleaning supplies!) generously donated by the Hampden Meadows community. They also got to tour the facility, make dog treats, bag treats for volunteer dog walkers, and, of course, meet the four-legged beneficiaries of their donations! Thank you to Student Council advisor, Miss O'Neil, and the entire HMS community for helping our students make a difference! 🐩🐕

❤️BMS IS A CERTIFIED HEART SAFE SCHOOL: Barrington Middle School is the first middle school in Rhode Island to become a Heart Safe Certified School through Project ADAM! BMS now has a rapid response team of administrators, teachers, and staff who are trained and ready to respond to any cardiac emergency in the school. Thank you to our teachers, administrators, school nurses and Dr. Alice Kim, Barrington EMS, the Rhode Island Department of Health, and Heart Safe Schools RI for helping to train and prepare the BMS rapid response team for certification.

🎼🎬BHS STAGEMASTERS PERFORM AT RI STATE HOUSE: Earlier this month, the Barrington High School Stagemasters helped celebrate #ArtsinOurSchoolsMonth at the Rhode Island State House! The Stagemasters performed an excerpt from their upcoming spring production, Clue: On Stage (High School Edition). Barrington High School seniors Maya and Ashley directed the scene as part of an extension of their Senior Project. Catch the full length version of Clue: On Stage when the Stagemasters perform next Thursday, Friday, and Saturday (April 4-6) at BHS at 7:00 pm.

🏒BHS HOCKEY PLAYERS RECEIVE HOBEY BAKER CHARACTER AWARD: Two Barrington High School Eagles were among the 32 high school hockey players recently awarded the Hobey Baker High School Character Award during a ceremony at the Rhode Island State House! This award recognizes student-athletes whose strong character has led them to excellence as players, teammates and leaders. Congratulations, Mia and Adam!

🎭ARTS ALIVE BRINGS MEAN GIRLS JR. TO BMS: Congratulations to our Barrington Middle School thespians and Arts Alive Barrington for a sold out weekend of Mean Girls Jr. performances! Last week, in preparation for the play, BMS embraced a school-wide Kindness Challenge to spread the message of the power of kindness. Thanks to Dr. Anderson, Mrs. Poirier, Mrs. Leary, and Mrs. Nary for leading this campaign! 💌

⚧BHS GENDER EQUITY CLUB CELEBRATES WOMEN'S HISTORY MONTH: In celebration of Women's History Month, the Barrington High School Gender Equality and Awareness Club recently hosted their annual Mixed Media Showcase to support girls and women in sports! Congrats to Megan, Jane, Audrey, and all members of GEAC for planning a fantastic event to support an important cause! Special thank you to Coach Gasbarro, head coach of the BHS field hockey team, for giving the keynote. 🏑
