       Week Of: October 24, 2022

Important Info:

  • Although we understand there are situations when a student is not feeling well and must stay home, we do want to remind families that attendance matters. Students have been in school for 32 days as of today. If they have missed 3 or more days at this point, they have missed more than 10% of the school year. Monthly attendance reports will be run through and families will receive an update as needed. Thank you for your support!

  • October Lunch Menu - Please remember that when you send lunch payment in, it needs to be in an envelope with your child’s name on it. Please do not send loose money in. Thank you!

This Week:

  • Our canned good food drive continues. Please consider donating a non-perishable food item. Some of these items will be shared with TAPIN, with our own families in need or with other local schools in Rhode Island.

Upcoming Events:

Other Information:

  • As you know, one of our students has recently been diagnosed with ALD, Adrenoleukodystrophy. His family would like to share this information with the community to bring awareness and hopefully prevent future cases. If early warning signs are detected, this may allow for immediate treatment to slow the disease progression.  Fortunately, Rhode Island now has the newborn blood screen for this disease, which means children born in RI after 10/01/2018 are able to be screened. They thank you for your support!

New Volunteer Orientation

New date added

If you are a new volunteer in any Barrington Public School, have completed a BCI, and have never attended a Volunteer Orientation in our district, it is required that you do so prior to volunteering.

Wednesday, October 26th

Sowams - 9:00am

You may attend any orientation. It does not have to be at your child’s current school. If you were unable to attend a scheduled session, you must contact Barrington Public Schools Volunteer Coordinator, Anita DiMatteo (DiMatteoA@barringtonschools.org) to schedule an orientation.

From the PTO:

  • Our Kids and Social Media

The Hampden Meadows PTO organized a conversation about cell phones and social media and their impact on youngsters.  You can view the slides or the entire presentation HERE.
